This group of islands is considered to be the low-budget alternative for the Galapagos. Various species of birds can be observed, together with sea mammals and probably more.

The funny commercials
Once South of Lima the landscape greatly improved. Everything was cleaner and at least seemed to be better organized. Also, a lot of funny commercials on the side of the road. So, I followed suit and tried to take a funny picture.
At the KTM shop
While shopping around for 4T oil (very hard to find there) we entered a KTM store. To our surprise, a promotional video from Romaniacs was being displayed and everyone was excited we were from Romania. Hearing about our journey and the problems we were having, the manager invited us to the warehouse/shop (serving both KTM and Lifan brands) so we can work on Palomina. Since we had no replacement gaskets, they even provided us with the proper dies so we can build them. Just like in the old days! 🙂 Thanks again, guys!
Bike maintenance
Acquiring BMW parts in this part of world turned to a real challenge. At the local factory dealer they had nothing on stock and ETA was 3 weeks… but at least they allowed us to test the new F800GS… What a bike! So we headed to the biggest aftermarket parts store in Lima. To our surprise, they had no catalog and we were asked to provide the malfunctioning part so they can try to match it against the parts on the shelf. Having no other option, I decided to remove the parts right there: brakes, chain, sprockets, even the oil seals… In the end I was able to purchase solely the chain and order the rest of parts from MAX in US.
Lima, Peru
Once in Lima we took some pictures, first in the Miraflores (beach) area and then in the older District. At some point we got stopped by the police just because the cop was curious what kind of bike we had, how many cc, top speed etc. In turn they helped us find a hotel and they even recommended us to the hotel staff as being “friends of the chief” 🙂
