After 5 days on the sea we finally got to Capurgana, Colombia. Everything went fine except I got some sun burns and Laura got sea sick 🙂 In this village we got our passports stamped and we are now looking to find another boat to Turbo. Once we are there I will resume postings.
Spot reminder
This is the link to use to see the progress. Until I figure out how to make a new page to include that, I will have to repost.
Setting the sail
I am still to post pictures from half of Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama. But I don’t have time for that right now, as later today we are expected to board Fritz the Cat, a catamaran that will take us on a 5 days cruise to Turbo, Colombia. This is the only way we can pass the Darien Gap. The road to the port of departure goes through an indian reservation so we have to leave early or else the road might be closed, due to local customs.
Americas 2010 featured at Radio Guerilla
As a result of a live interview at Radio Guerilla that brought a lot of traffic, the blog was down for 1-2 days. The bandwidth allocation has been increased and the blog is now up and running again. The interview here.
Leon Viejo
Leon Viejo is the old capital of Nicaragua, from the Spanish times. It was preserved after a volcanic eruption covered everything with ash some 400 years ago. It was rediscovered some 30 years ago and it is now a UNESCO world heritage site.
